Abused and Neglected Children Will Benefit from Jewelers for Children Grant to Advocates for Children
Aurora, CO: -- Advocates for Children, the CASA program serving abused and neglected children in the 18th Judicial District, was recently awarded a $10,000 grant from Jewelers for Children (JFC) to increase the number of volunteers who represent the best interests of abused and neglected children in court.  The award to Advocates for Children is part of a $ 1 million grant that JFC made to the National CASA Association.

“Like many people in our country, Jewelers for Children board members took a hard look at the causes we support and marshaled our resources to provide funding where the needs—and the results—are greatest,” says David Rocha, the executive director of Jewelers for Children. “We are committed to supporting CASA programs because they are an efficient, effective way to help the children who need it the most.”

More than 1,000 children enter the foster care system in the 18th Judicial District each year.  Last year, volunteers helped about 60 percent find safe, permanent homes.  The program is always seeking new volunteers in its effort to provide a voice to every abused and neglected child.

“Funding from Jewelers for Children will help us recruit and train an additional 100 new volunteers to serve about 400 new children.  We are grateful that during these trying times, the jewelers and our local supporters are focused on helping others,” says Peggy Rudden, Executive Director of Advocates for Children.
